Instead of posting the usual photos of our daughter Abigail, I wanted to write about something else I've been thinking a lot about lately. I'm not one to talk with others about politics, but I strongly believe that many people have not taken the issue of abortion into consideration when voting for our next president.
I feel passionately about the protection of unborn children. Some people fail to realize that a baby in the womb is really a precious, human life. An eight-week-old human baby has a beating heart, an EKG, brain waves, thumb-sucking, pain sensitivity, finger-grasping, and genetic humanity. However, under our present laws this baby is not a human person with rights under the 14th Amendment, which says that, "no state shall deprive any person of life...without due process of law."
In the following video, notice the continuity of the childrens' development. Those adorable children who are born are simply larger and older than the ones who are unborn. There is no difference of value in God's eyes, and there should be no difference in ours.
If you believe that a baby in the womb is truly a human life, then abortion is the killing of an innocent life. In the United States alone, from 1973 through 2005, more than 45 million legal abortions occurred. (Jones RK et al., Abortion in the United States: incidence and access to services, 2005, Perspectives on Sexual and Reproductive Health, 2008, 40(1):6–16.)
As much as I believe our country needs change, I don't believe Barack Obama is the answer based on his stance on abortion. Obama is the most pro-abortion candidate to run for president ever! Here is a link explaining why I think a candidate's view on abortion completely disqualifies them from my vote.
One of the first things Obama has publically committed to do when he is president, is to sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). This act will reverse all pro-life state legislation passed by vote of U. S. citizens in the last thirty years, including all parental notification and consent laws, waiting periods, and limitations on public funding of abortion. Or, as the National Organization for Women put it, it would "sweep away hundreds of anti-abortion laws [and] policies." These collective laws have saved and are saving countless lives.
Obama is committed to continuing the legalized killing of unborn children in this country. In his July 17, 2007 speech to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund Obama said, in reference to FOCA,
"So, you know where I stand. . . The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act. That's the first thing that I'd do." Here it is...
In closing, this last clip is a graphic depiction of what abortion does. I'm cautious in sharing this video, but I feel that people need to realize the heinous nature of abortion. If you are sensitive to explicit images, please do not watch.
Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post. Although you may disagree with me on this issue, I wanted to make people more educated about abortion. I pray that you will truly consider the grave importance of this issue as you vote next Tuesday.
Love,
Suzanne
Psalm 139:13-18
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

thank you so much for sharing. i totally agree with you on this topic. as i sit here holding on to my beautiful sleeping baby i can not imagine how ppl can go through with that.
I stumbled across your post today as I was looking for more pics of Abigail. And let me just say, I am with you 100%. I don't think people realize how huge this election is for the issue of abortion (especially with 4 chief justices possibly resigning). Even after all this time at the pregnancy center, it still amazes me that people can actually think abortion is okay.
Prayers will continue as the election nears.
Love,
Erin
Loved your post! A lot of thought went into your post and people need to hear it! I went through a big struggle thinking about voting this year. Even though I really liked many of Obama's views, I couldn't "morally" vote for him. My faith and conscience gets the best of me.
I love seeing your little one! Glad your family is doing well!
